Dr Nicholas Hicks FRCP FRCGP FFPH

Associate

Nick is the Founder and Managing Director of COBIC and OptiMedis-COBIC UK. He is also an Associate Fellow at Green Templeton College Oxford where he runs the Management in Medicine programme and an Honorary Senior Research Fellow, Nuffield Department of Primary Health Care Sciences, University of Oxford.  During the pandemic he has been the Public Health Strategy Advisor to the Chief Medical Advisor of the UK Health Security Agency.

He qualified as a Doctor in 1982 and trained in general practice and public health. His career has included time as a practising GP, as a Director of Public Health, PCT chief executive, a Harkness Fellow and several attachments policy making in the Department of Health where he was the lead author of the Coronary Heart Disease National Service Framework, then the doctor in the Department’s Strategy Unit and a major contributor the NHS Plan’s health inequalities policies.  His interests include outcome measurement, integrated care and population health management.  This included leading a consortium whose work on population health management was awarded the HSJ System Leadership Initiative of the Year in 2019

Nick brings experience of public health, policy making, complex systems and large scale change management.  Internationally, he provides expert public health and health care and policy advice to governments and national health and public health agencies.
